2019 Carmel Film Forum: Making the Big Picture, Preproduction and Crowdfunding

The 2019 Carmel Film Forum, Making the Big Picture: Preproduction and Crowdfunding will be held on Saturday, August 10, at the Carmel Clay Public Library. The Forum is FREE and will consist of an afternoon and evening session. Participants will receive a printed curriculum.

The afternoon session will begin at 12:30 pm with a table read. Local actors will read filmmaker James E. Moriarty's new feature screenplay, Ghost From The River.

Following the table read, Eric Wayne Key, founder of Digipitch, will demo his free online screenwriting and film pitching platform. Using James’ feature screenplay as an example, Eric will discuss the development of a film's log-line and tagline which are used to market films. Then, Rachel Murphy, a professional line producer, will show how to break down the film’s budget. Once the feature film’s budget is determined, the process of developing the film’s business plan and crowdfunding campaign will be examined. A short crowdfunding video for the Ghost From the River will be screened.

The evening session will start at 6:30 pm. Rachel Murphy will curate and present screenings of female produced short films and will lead the attending filmmakers in Q&A.
